Hi Folks,
Well it’s been a few weeks since I last wrote and since then many
changes have occurred everywhere. Here we’ve changed the name of our
masthead to Say Yes to YOU Coaching which makes more sense given that
I’ve been teaching clients this for over 25 years, the US has a new
President and the world is it seems in a financial crisis.
I am constantly hearing from clients and people in general that they
are anxious and afraid because of the economy. So let me first address
fear. The nemesis of almost everyone
Yes, we’re in a recession and it’s normal to have some anxiety as long
as it doesn’t rule your life. Fear is not real, it’s just a thought
in your head and it can only play a role if you allow it! It’s not
that it’s wrong to have fears or doubts, you’re human and truthfully if
you said you never had a fear or doubt I’d be a little concerned.
It’s not about never having a fearful feeling its how you deal with it
when it happens. Don’t wait until you feel anxious make the choice in
advance to have a positive thought you can replace it with. Just
because we’re in a recession doesn’t mean you can’t achieve success and
create financial freedom. In fact, often in these times people earn
more money.
The other thing that happens when people buy into fear is loss of
confidence and belief that they can achieve what they want. Did you
know that over 85% of people have self esteem issues? Unfortunately
research shows this to be true. (By the way men have the same fears,
doubts they just deal with them a different way!)
I primarily work with women solo/entrepreneurs who often work from a
home based office. When you are focused on building your own business
working alone can sometimes seem very daunting. Here are 3 tips that
can make your days more motivating and less overwhelming.
Somewhere in the background have some pleasant music playing, no
vocals, just music. (it doesn’t need to be right in your office.)
Nothing too loud or noisy something that soothes your spirit and your
soul and helps you to feel more motivated. I actually use big band
swing music or classical depending on the day :)
Use some kind of
day planner very diligently. If your days are scheduled in an
organized way it will allow you not to just be busy but to work
productively and will alleviate overwhelm. Always make sure that
somewhere each day you take a minimum of 10-15 minutes for yourself.
Not to run errands or play with the kids or whatever, this time is just
for you. Take a walk, read a book, watch a half hour sitcom (I tape
old comedy series especially for these times) laughing releases tension
so laugh as much as possible during the day.
If you can’t afford a VA yet check out your local college and see if
there’s a kid who’d either like to earn some extra money or you can
also get someone as an intern. This way you are teaching someone the
rules of the game so to speak, you get some work done to take off the
overload and a few hours a week you have company during the work day.
There are many more tools and techniques that can be used to overcome
fear and doubt and help you to be productive and motivated, these are
just a few.
So, right now don’t buy into fear, decide not to be part of this recession and keep moving forward one step at a time.
‘Til Next Time
